Kristine grew up in Wagga Wagga and had piano lessons from the age of 7 to the age of 19. Although she never did music examinations, she learned a variety of both classical and easy-listening pieces. She regularly played at restaurants and wedding receptions.
Later, in 2009, having moved to Geelong the previous year, Kristine discovered the harp. She had her folk harp locally made in Geelong and was able to apply her musical skills to this beautiful instrument. She played voluntarily at Chesterfield Supported Residential Service, for the elderly, for an hour each Monday afternoon for the past two years. She has also played the harp at funerals and social events.
She has been meditating regularly for over 20 years now and she finds meditation a really important tool to help her remain grounded in everyday life. She's a qualified Reiki practitioner and has recently completed the Meditation Teacher Training Course through the Gawler Foundation. This qualification allows her to teach Mindfulness-Based Stillness Meditation to others. In her personal practice, she meditates first thing in the morning most days, and also get together fortnightly with some friends for a group meditation. She has regularly taken her turn at leading the meditations in this group for over 10 years.
Every Wednesday afternoon she leads a meditation at the Geelong Wellbeing Centre, using the harp to guide everyone into a peaceful meditation. Some weeks she uses her folk harp and other weeks the smaller Reverie harp. Both instruments produce beautiful, gentle music that enhances relaxation and stillness. The meditations are guided, but mostly consist of harp music. Come along to unwind, replenish and escape your busy routine and bask in the soothing harp music.
Wednesday afternoons 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Cost is $15 per session, or $50 for 4 sessions.
